I want THIS to be released in America (with the booklet, extras and all six versions). For this to be available in the UK and not here is just a freakin' crime.

Oh my! A Masters of Cinema Touch of Evil? That is reason enough for anyone who loves movies to invest in a region free Blu ray player.

Yep, a region-locked ('B' region) two-disc BD set with all three versions of "TOC" in both 1:85:1 and 1:37:1, the same extras from the DVD release and a phat booklet. Good luck getting that from Universal or even Criterion. :(

I don't know, Criterion has released multiple cuts of films before. I don't see any reason why if they end with access to Touch of Evil that they would not release something similar.

MORE UNIVERSAL TITLES COMING TO MOC. This note in the press release is interesting though:
"in coordination with Universal's centenary celebrations in 2012."
Which maybe means Universal will give some of its classics yet-to-debut in HD the royal treatment. Maybe this deluxe "TOE" BD will be releases Stateside after all. :)

Was this the piece you meant to link to? Because the one there doesn't deal with what you were talking about.

Indeed. Or just hack your current player. The Masters of Cinema series has some incredible gems, a bit pricier on average than Criterion, but well worth it.

You really think so? The Touch of Evil mentioned here is $25.50 with shipping via amazon.uk. Your typical Criterion with commentary & features generally sits in their $39.99 price point.

Mental note: stop buying them at Scarecrow Video, start buying them via Amazon UK....

In case you hadn't heard, FARSCAPE: THE COMPLETE SERIES IS COMING TO BLU-RAY NOV. 15th. You can get the whole series or individual seasons. No price or bonus features announced but its from A&E Entertainment/New Video, so expect to pay top retail dollar for questionable-at-best quality transfers.

The question with Farscape we be to see if they went back and worked on the special effects for the first three years. Series four & The Peacekeeper Wars were shot in hi-def, while the first three years were not. This is an expensive project and while I hope that is what they have done, I'm not counting on it.

If only to complete the Malick titles on Blu. Preferably by Criterion, but Warners would be fine. Both companies care. :)

The Pawnbroker or at least a widescreen DVD. I desperately want to see this. Same with Deathtrap. Fullscreen is always a crime, it feels even worse when it messes with Lumet's composition.

Amazon is having a below-$10 Blu-Ray sale: http://www.amazon.com/gp/search/ref=pe_170700_24224940_pe_hdr/?ie=UTF8&rh=n:672573011,p_74:0-999,p_n_format_browse-bin:2650305011&page=1&bbn=672576011&tag=5336055023-20. Don't know how long this will last so hurry, it's a pretty good selection.

If you can please use the DVDVerdict reviews' links to amazon so the site gets a piece of the action; that's what I did. :)

Beware: there are multiple versions of the same movie in this sale, so wait until you see them all to make the best deal; "JCVD" and "Rocky," for example, show up early as stand-alones and later as 'movie paks' with other flicks for the same price ("JCVD") or with additional content ("Rocky" with DVD+Digital Copy).
