The Bourne Ultimatum-They'll never match the car chase from the second, but I'm pretty sure I'll get my 9.00 worth.
The Simpsons Movie-Seeing my first trailer for it last week, it looks side splittingly funny. Can't wait.
Transformers-Will Bay screw it up? It looks like he can't miss, but if anyone could ruin it, he could.
Ratatuoille It's Pixar and Brad Bird. It'll be great.

NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN sounds good to me. Cormac McCarthy is one of our very best novelists (read "Blood Meridian") and the Coen brothers are... well, I think they are great although not everyone agrees.

I thought he was wooden in the Columbus films, but he's really grown in my opinion.

In regards to the topic, I'm looking forward to No Country for Old Men, Eastern Promises (there's gotta be a trailer soon!), The Simpsons Movie, There Will Be Blood, and the aforementioned Harry Potter 5.

Actually, I have to disagree on this. My thought is that if a live-action Transformers movie needs to exist (and no one can convince me that it does, but that's another argument), then he's the only person in the business who's qualified to make it and have it NOT completely suck. It's the perfect marriage of talent and subject.

Besides Bourne and No Country For Old Men.......

I really want to see Killshot, the Elmore Leonard Story with Diane Lane, Mickey Rourke, Jane, Knoxville, Gordon-Leavitt etc. But I mean c'mon, it's 18 months overdue and re-shooting has taken place twice, as recently as this past spring.

re: Transformers and Harry Potter - I'm fond of quoting Bill Watterson, who said of his decision not to license Calvin and Hobbes: "A wordy four-panel strip doesn't condense to a coffee mug without great violation to its spirit." Historically, transplanting a franchise from one medium to another usually meets with disastrous results. Making video games, comics, or books into movies is the worst. X-Men and Spider-man are anomalies that way. Anyone who sets out to make a Transformers movie or a Harry Potter movie is shooting himself in the foot, just by setting out to make a Transformers movie or a Harry Potter movie. I'm still sad that Rowling sold the film rights to anybody. Harry Potter should have stayed on the page.

The Simpsons Movie should be good, though. The series is organized anarchy to begin with, so the movie can spin wildly out of control and it'll still be funny. With so much room to move, they'd have to work hard to screw it up.

I'm still sad that Rowling sold the film rights to anybody. Harry Potter should have stayed on the page.

Rowling has a good amount of creative control over the film adaptations, such as final script approval and that the films should be made in the U.K. with British actors (but no control over casting, picking the director, etc.). So far, Warner Brothers is the only movie studio to allow an author to have that kind of control. And plus, she's happy with the film versions of her books, unlike some authors. I'm happy with them too, but you can't please everybody.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is by far, the only other 2007 sequel (aside from 28 Weeks Later) that most likely won't disappoint. A short running time, new director, and tighter focus on story should prove to give the franchise a new feel. Of course, the short running time could also prove detrimental considering that the book ran up to nearly 900 pages long but that was due to a lot of detail and omittable subplots. A 2 1/2 long movie should be long enough to do justice to the main story.

Well, someone gave me free passes to TRANSFORMERS, so i guess I have to see that.
It looks okay, though i dispised the cartoon and the 80's movie as well back in the day.

Other than that my girlfriend wants to see 1408 or whatever numeral that is.
Looks pretty good.

I'm looking forward to Rob Zombie's HALLOWEEN. (hey, i'll know what i'm in for when i buy the ticket)

Ratatouille's at the top of my list, with The Simpsons Movie a close second.

I've got high hopes for Superbad (I'm up for whatever Michael Cera's selling, especially if Seth Rogan's involved). I just saw Knocked Up this weekend: best comedy I've seen in a looooong time! I'm a big Apatow fan, and it was magic seeing all those Freaks and Geeks and Undeclared alums (plus a sprinkling of actors from The Office) working together. Fingers crossed Superbad can give out the same "gross out with heart" vibe.

I'm trying to keep my expectations in check for Transformers and Harry Potter (I think I'm the only one who hated the last movie), but man oh man I hope they're as cool as they look in the trailers.

I really don't care much for spy/espionage films myself. Damon is very good in the title role, but I'm so disconnected with the main story. And the shakycam approach used in The Bourne Supremacy really got irritating, although it worked well in certain scenes in the film. I'll wait for DVD for that one.

I forgot about Balls Of Fury. That trailer has been floating around youtube for a long time. I would have thought it had been released by now but it says August. May not be any good but Christopher Walken's clips are great.

American Gangster looks good even if it seems more a Denzel movie than a Denzel/Russell movie.

The trailer for 3:10 to Yuma is great, Crowe and Bale both look terrific and Ben Foster steals the trailer as the killer criminal.

The Simpsons Movie.

I'm not totally sold on Bardem and Brolin, but the Coens are the Coens, so No Country for Old Man is on the list too.
