April '13-What did you buy?

Postby hoytereden » Tue Apr 02, 2013 2:19 am

The Andy Griffith Show-Season Four-Our Walmart or Target hardly ever get anything past season 1 or 2 of this series so when they do show up I get them. Only missing season Five and then I'm done. Beyond that season, with Don Knotts gone, there's just not much left in Mayberry to care about. There were still a few good episodes but the keyword is few and not coincidentally most of them featured the guest appearances of Barney Fife.

Moe-"Were you scared?" Larry-"No, just apprehensive." Moe-"Apprehensive, that's a pretty big word. What's it mean?" Larry-"That's scared with a college education!"

$5 each at Best Buy:

Your Highness
Rocky Balboa
- I'd owned this one previously but it vanished somehow. Replacement for lost disc.

Got a little extra money at work. So, predictably, I went a little nuts with OOP Criterions while they're still relatively easy to get.

Melville's ARMY OF SHADOWS (Blu-ray)
Melville's LEON MORIN, PRIEST (Blu-ray)
Melville's LE DOULOS (DVD)
- All these purchased through the Verdict's Amazon links. 8)
Melville's LE CIRCLE ROUGE (Blu-ray) - From a Barnes & Noble
Lucio Fulci's DON'T TORTURE A DUCKLING (DVD)
Peter Hyams' THE RELIC
- under $15 for both at a local NYC store

^^^ I already had "Marienbad" on Blu, and I've seen "Mafioso" so I won't lose much sleep over not owning it. But darn, slowly Studio Canal is decimating Criterion's once-unbeatable catalogue of titles. :(

If nothing else: They've made owners of Criterion's The Third Man Blu-ray happier. ;-)
