Neither do we pay much attention to December 7th. Sure, occasionally someone brings it up, or they mention on the news that it's the anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor, but it hardly registers, especially for those of us who weren't around back then.Neal Solon wrote:November 11 is just one week and two months away. Yeah, was watching both Blue Max an Oh! What a Lovely War this past weekend. Seems like when I was a kid it was Armistice Day. Commonwealth/Empire has it as Remembrance Day. Red poppies all around though.Neal Solon wrote:November 11 is just one week and two months away. I bet none of you even gave any thought to the end of World War I.

Brother! My mom woke me too. Of course, I was living at home, and she had to come in my room to do it and could see clearly that I was asleep. What would the harm have been in leaving me to wake up on my own?HGervais wrote:Same here. I clearly remember the phone call from my mom which woke me up that morning. She was on the phone sobbing about how we were attacked and begging me to not go to the wine function I was scheduled at in downtown Chicago. The rest of the day was a blur of emotions. Anyone who was around that day will never forget it.
