Speaking of iPods, mine was stolen last week. The wife left it visible in it's Radio dock station in my car, the passenger side window was smashed and the iPod and docking connector were taken. The only two items stolen from the car. They ignored the CDs, ignored the alchohol, ignored everything. They just wanted the little white crack machine.

$250 for the iPod, $220 for a new window... it wasn't even worth turning into insurance.

Now, I'm thinking of getting a Zune. Anyone with any thoughts on them?

Call me old-fashioned, but I still prefer burning MP3 CDs.

Same here. I have over 200 cds and I don't really want to spend time numerising all of them for a portable MP3 player, so portable CD player is the choice for me - even if they take more space and probably have a smaller lifespan than ipods and the like. Also if I were to buy a MP3 player I'd go for one that sells at around $80 (not a shuffle though) and I'm not sure I'd get the same audio quality I get from a $60-$70 CD player.

Yes, they're a pale, pale, imitation of an iPod, minus the cool features, and add the software incompatabilities and headaches. Let's not forget the lack of support and the more or less complete lack of accessories for them.

Pffft! I have over 2,000 CDs and I own a little black video classic iPod. You don't have to download everything on to your iPod unless you want to. I have something crazy like a week or two worth of music and several days of video including any DVD I want to put on there as well. You'd have to carry around a huge bag for that compared to something that is less than a pack of cigarettes in size. Add in the PodCasts, and some of the free content, and you've got an entire lifestyle popping up.

Zunes are fine if you want nothing but what MicroSoft is trying to offer. I'm a loyal Apple guy. Just too much already out there for them.

Well...no one will break into your car to steal it.

They should really put that on the box.

Yep, same here. I still remember the winter i ripped all our cd's to mp3. Took me about 2 months. But oh was it worth it. Now i'm just trying to figure out what to do with five big boxes of cds.
