Norbert and Daggett are back. Terrific.
I can't recall the status of kids animation in 1999. Was this show a hot commodity? Because if it was, I yearn for the understated subtlety of Turbo Teen. The Angry Beavers tells the ear-piercing tale of Norbert Foster and Daggett Doofus, the eponymous "angry beavers."
The Angry Beavers: Season 3, Part 1 features 11 episodes on two discs, with each episode made up of two 12-minute shorts...
Disc One
"My BunnyGuard" / "What's Eating You?"
"Omega
Beaver" / "Bite This!"
"Spooky Spoots" / "Up All Night II: Up All Day"
"Muscular Beaver 3" / "Sang 'Em High"
"In Search of Big Byoo-Tox" /
"Moron-a-Thon Man"
"Legend of Kid Friendly" / "Silent But Deadly"
Disc Two
"Tough Love" / "A Little Dad'll Do Ya"
"Pass It
On" / "Stump's Family Reunion"
"Muscular Beaver 4" / "Act Your Age"
"Too Loose Latrine" / "Pack Your Dags"
"Daggy's Dearest" / "Dag's
List"
The show is built on these two beavers just sort of doing stuff. It's all very shrill, noisy, and trying way too hard to squeeze laughs out of its manic lunacy.
Look, I tried to pay attention, I really did. But the more I attempted to concentrate on the action, the less I was able to focus. It's like staring at one of those Magic Eye drawings for three hours and only coming away with a pounding headache.
The bland DVD specs: mediocre full frame transfers, Dolby 2.0 stereo, and zilch for extras.
Dam these beavers. Guilty.
