The Charge

Dance away pounds. Sculpt a lean Pilates body.

Opening Statement

Ready to burn some fat and build some muscle? If that's a yes, Denise Austin's Body Burn with Dance and Pilates offers just the workout you need.

Facts of the Case

This disc includes three complete workouts:

* Cardio Dance (30 minutes)
* Pilates Standing (10 minutes)
* Pilates Mat (10 minutes)

The Evidence

Let's take a closer look at what these fitness sessions are all about:

* Cardio Dance
I'm not a big dancer and I never really have been, so I can't say I'm overly excited about this 30-minute dance workout. Still, for the purpose of this review, I went ahead and tried it out, and let me tell you, I had a lot of trouble following Austin's moves. The workout itself is not that exhausting, but Austin never really gives detailed instructions, which makes it a lot harder to follow and complete her routines.

* Pilates Standing
Luckily, Austin slows down a bit during this Pilates session, which is undoubtedly a lot better and more interesting than the previous workout. To be honest, doing this one for 10 minutes made me sweat more than her dragging round of dancing.

* Pilates Mat
I'm a lazy guy when it comes to fitness, so I always prefer working on my abs and core on the ground. This is a decent workout as well, although I admit I've seen better.

Austin's Body Burn with Dance and Pilates is a solid enough program for those who prefer to spice up their workouts with a bit of dancing. Remember: following her every move is quite a challenge.

Special features on this disc are scarce, but you'll be able to customize your workout. The DVD carries a proper full-frame presentation, and the audio transfer works just as well.

Closing Statement

Even though the Carido Dance session is rather disappointing, the Pilates programs will more than likely offer you just the kind of workout you're looking for.

The Verdict

Not guilty.
