The Charge

The long-sought antidote to stapler cramps.

The Case

For the dedicated 9-to-5er out there, desperate to squeeze in an ounce of cardio before the big meeting about the Walters account, Sharyn Pak has got the DVD for you. Desk Sets is a 50-minute workout, starring ACE Master Trainer Sharyn Pak and her desk.

The DVD is comprised of 12 five-minutes and under workout routines, designed for you, the bedraggled office worker, to do in the quiet of your cubicle. Each "desk set" works a different part of the body, though not very strenuously. The onus is on stress relief and relaxation, not on getting sweaty and ripped while in you business casual getup. So hardcore gym rats need not apply; these workouts are quick and lightweight.

Look, to be honest, I wouldn't be caught dead doing this stuff at work. My coworkers would laugh me out the building, but if you a) have a secluded, private office where no one can catch you doing leg lifts propped against your filing cabinet or b) are so insanely tense and stressed out that you'll try anything that doesn't require a prescription or a shady inner city contact, check this DVD out. Just remember, you won't break a sweat.

Presentation-wise, the workouts take place in the same minimally-decorated office set, with the only thing changing from routine to routine in Sharyn Pak's outfits. Pak is fit and her credentials check out, but she has this odd, unmoving grin plastered on her face throughout that's kind of distracting. Maybe someone substituted the half-and-half with Botox in her coffee? Just kidding Sharyn! It's obvious you can kick the crap out of me.

The DVD is no-frills, including just the feature. Full frame, stereo, nothing else. But, you can jump to workouts, which is handy. You know what have been even handier? If there was some button that would pull up an Excel spreadsheet immediately, you know, in case the boss walks in unannounced.
