"I know there is a way to ease your pain through Yoga." -- Peggy Cappy
Instructor Peggy Cappy (of Dublin, New Hampshire) has been studying and teaching Yoga for more than 40 years. Easy Yoga For Easing Pain is the latest installment of her Yoga For The Rest Of Us series, which has previously applied treatment programs for Back Care, Heart Health, and Arthritis sufferers.
Designed to increase circulation, range of motion, strength, flexibility, coordination, endurance, and balance, Easy Yoga For Easing Pain is divided into four core sections, each running five to twenty minutes. The first two are seated exercises, one set for the upper, another for the lower. These routines require a straight-backed chair, which you may want to keep around for balancing purposes during the third routine, which features standing exercises. Finally, there is a relaxation and meditation segment in which Cappy urges students that "when confronted with the stress in our lives, we need to know how to relax and let go."
Bonus features include two additional routines (one involving stretchy bands) and both can be used as warm-ups to or independent from the core segments. There is also a short, inspiring documentary on Cappy's pain-easement program, featuring testaments from students of varying ages and life situations.
Aware of her target audience, Cappy approaches each section gingerly and patiently. The standard definition 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen image and Dolby 2.0 Stereo mix are both crystal clear, and helpful captioning for the hard-of-hearing has been provided.
There is no neon lighting, no dance music, and the impact is purposely low. Such an approach may turn off younger audiences, but for those in need, this pain-easing regimen may be just the ticket, provided your physician approves.
Who am I to pass judgment on Peggy Cappy?
