What do birthdays, building, school, and friends have in common?
You'll have to watch to find out! And if your offspring are as infatuated with Elmo as my daughter is, I guarantee you'll be watching Elmo's World: Favorite Things over and over and over and over and over again.
Such is the intoxicating allure of Elmo. My two-year-old had never watched an episode of Sesame Street, but somehow still knew who Elmo was, as if telepathically tapping into the collective toddler unconscious retrieving that undying love of their red Muppet overlord.
Elmo's World is a segment on Sesame Street, our furry friend earning a promotion to run point on his own show. Though the action largely takes place in Elmo's house, away from "the Street," this is still a Sesame Workshop production, with Muppets galore showing up to encourage social interaction and educational principles like vocabulary development and counting.
With Elmo's World: Favorite Things we're looking at seven episodes:
* "Building Things"
* "The Beach"
Elmo talks to special guest stars, takes the action out on location (perhaps approaching your unsuspecting baby on the beach), and watches some weirdo named Mr. Noodle, a mime with big pants.
Whatever. I don't claim to understand it all, but I know what my kiddo likes. And Elmo's World is it.
The disc: standard definition full frame, Dolby 2.0 stereo, and some downloadable materials for parents.
Not Guilty. Elmo rules all. Resistance is futile.
