The Charge

Get ready for the first day of school with your preschool pals from Nickelodeon.

The Case

I'm going to just go ahead an issue a preemptive apology for this review. It's sweltering in our house tonight and I got hit in the head twice playing basketball today so I'm not feeling tip-top. But I've got to get this disc turned around, so, well, here we go.

The First Day of School is a collection of some of Nickeldoeon's hit kids shows, with the episodes tied together by the theme of -- you guessed it -- the first day of school. Here's the batting order:

Dora the Explorer: "First Day of School"
Dora, Boots and Tico go to school and learn Spanish and herald the coming of the Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

Go Diego Go!: "Linda the Librarian"
When Linda the Llama needs to drop off her library books off she calls on Diego and his goofy talking map to help.

Blue's Clues: "Blue Takes You to School"
Blue the Dog continues his ruthless psychological torture of Joe by forcing him to solve the mystery of his favorite part of school.

Wonder Pets!: "Off to School"/ "Save the Pangaroo"
It's Baby Blowfish's first day at preschool and the nightmarish Wonder Pets are here to make sure it's a memorable one.

Ni Hao, Kai-Lan: "Lulu Day"
Kai-Lan, the adorable animated Chinese girl goes on a play date and I don't know what that has to do with school.

I'm slipping into unconsciousness I'll wrap it up. This is a collection aimed at the Nick Jr. crowd, and there's a decent enough assortment to keep them entertained. The rest of it: full frame, stereo, nothing else.

The Verdict
