The Charge

Go, Kendra!

Opening Statement

According to the synopsis on the back of the disc case, Kendra Wilkinson is sexy and sporty and in this show she's living, loving and laughing like never before. Translation: she has a stripper pole in her living room.

Facts of the Case

As you may or may not know, Kendra Wilkinson, former Playmate and girlfriend of Hugh Hefner, had a little gig on The Girls Next Door. Now here she is in her own show, which pretty much just follows her around as she moves into her new house, plans her nuptials to Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Hank Baskett, unveils a major personal revelation and occasionally shows her breasts.

The Evidence

What is the target audience for this show? Seriously. If you have any suggestions, please send me an email, because I'm not entirely sure for whom this series was developed. Let's run down the possibilities:

Young, impressionable females
This was my default choice, simply because the disc is covered with hip quotes like "You go girl" and "Kendra does it all -- in style!" and "Everyone's favorite gal-on-the-go, the sexy, sporty, Kendra Wilkinson." Up-beat and girl-powery, huh? Except, Kendra Wilkinson probably wouldn't be the most ideal role model for young women, what with her stripper acts in her living room, topless indoor skydiving, and the fact that she allegedly has been carnally intimate with an 80-year-old lay-about.

Horny dudes
True, Kendra's giant bosoms pop up here and there. But these appearances are infrequent and I can't see even the most libidinous guy enduring Kendra's goofy escapades for the chance of stealing a glance at some fake boobs.

Viewers hoping for another train-wreck reality show
I had my suspicions at first, but no, Kendra isn't the second coming of The Anna Nicole Show. She may not be a Mensa candidate and appears to possess no discernible practical skills like cooking or cleaning or organizing, but Kendra isn't insane. She's well-meaning, seems to really love her husband and genuinely seems to like having fun.

I'm still lost as to the point of this show. I suppose it would be big with and entertaining for fans of sexy and sporty blonde models whose voice could strip wallpaper, but I fail to see the attraction for the remainder of the free world.

The two-discs set features a well-performing 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer and a standard-issue 2.0 stereo track. One extra: a bonus "behind-the-scenes" episode.

Closing Statement

Still thinking about the reason for this show's existence...

The Verdict

Guilty of being too sexy and sporty.
