Real people. Real solutions. Real weight loss.
The title's certainly grim. Is this really your last chance to work out? Last chance before what? Keeling over from a major coronary? Or maybe just succumbing to the siren call of a Ring Ding? Let's go with the baked goods scenario and pretend NBC isn't trying to whip its DVD audience into shape by scaring the living @#$% out of them.
I've seen my share of workout videos and this one is definitely in the top range of Exercise Routines that Will Lead to You Pulling a Muscle that Sounds Like the Name of an Autobot. These work-outs are six-day affairs and can run as long as 55 minutes.
There are three individual workouts, which are mixed and matched according to the day. They include: the titular "last chance workout," a mixture of high-impact strength and cardio shots; the "upper body sculpt," a 10-minute ordeal targeting the arms, shoulders and chest; and, finally, the "lower body tone," another ten minutes that tackles from the waistline down. Each daily combination is bracketed by five-minute warm-ups and cool-downs.
The presentation was decent, featuring, er, portly, exercise backups doing the routines while trainer Jillian Michaels barks out the passive-aggressive orders. It lends the workouts a nice dose of genuineness.
The endeavor stumbles a bit in the front end. While it's certainly not the tallest of tasks to make your way through the menu system, the navigation could have been a lot more intuitive.
Overall, it's a fine exercise disc offering a structured set of routines that strike me as fairly exhausting. This all comes to you in 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen and 2.0 stereo. Extras include a custom workout set-up, a music-only option and some training tips.
Not Guilty. (sound of cartilage popping)
