I like food.
The matron of homemakers returns with another collection of highlights from her show Martha Stewart Living. Martha's Guests: Master Chefs brings together the highlights of a wide variety of culinary magicians who have stopped by to take Martha through some of their favorite recipes. The disc is segmented by the nationality of the dishes. In all, you get 130 minutes worth of cooking.
Oven-Roasted Ribs with Bobby Flay
Olive-Stuffed Flank Steak with Tom Douglas
New England Clam Chowder with Jasper White
Spaghetti alla Carbonara with Mario Batali
Spiedini all Romano with Lidia Bastianich
Lemon Chicken with Frank Pellegrino
Cote de Boeuf with Daniel Boulud
Shrimp with Orange Dust with Jean-Georges Vongerichten
Coq au Vin with Riad Nasr
Tamales with Diana Kennedy
Chiles Anchos Rellenos with Roberto Santibanez
Calamari with Jose Hurtado
Pad Thai with Su-Mei Yu
Pork Buns with Eilieen Yin-Fei Lo
Hand Rolls with Nobu
There's a lot of recipes for your dollar available, and as the norm with Martha Stewart's show, the details and how-to nitty-gritty are spelled out nice and easy for you to follow. The dishes themselves are varied and, frankly, most of them looked hugely delicious. Except the pork buns. Those really didn't look that tasty. Anyway, it's a solid presentation throughout, and future restaurateurs could do worse than picking this disc up and learning a few tricks. No bonus features, save for an Internet link to recipes and instructions, which, actually, is pretty handy.
