Lose weight, build strength and bolster your faith in 33 minutes a day.
Well, how could you possibly say no to that? Answer: you can't, unless you're a noodle-armed, morbidly obese Thuggee.
Jimmy Pena is your host for the festivities. He's a bubbly energetic fella with blazing white teeth and a large forehead. He also appears to be "fit as a fiddle," as the young people say, so it strikes me he knows what he's talking about when it comes to getting whipped into shape. He's also a Christian, which gives PrayFit its unique hook.
So what's different in a Christian workout from a regular old secular workout? Not much. In a brief introduction, Pena talks about the importance of blending a healthy faith with a healthy lifestyle and there are some brief "PrayFit minutes" in the extras section, where he opines on some bite-sized topics of faith.
However, the meat of the DVD is still the workouts. From the moment the music kicks in and Pena starts flexing, you're looking at an exercise presentation that essentially follows the standard operating procedure. The game plan: for 33 minutes a day, for 33 days, the toning exercises target the legs, shoulders, chest, back, arms, and abs. Weights are occasionally used to amp up the resistance. For those less inclined to feel the burn, one of Pena's fitness minions runs through the exercises at half-speed.
Will his get you ripped? The exercises looks strenuous enough; 33 minutes a day for 33 days is no walk in the park. Yeah, my money is on the PrayFit crew to whip your sorry butt into shape -- or at least contribute to the catastrophic tearing of an important tendon.
