All Rise...Judge David Johnson hit a walk off home run against his toddler yesterday. Felt good. Felt really good. The ChargeI thought it sucked being a Knicks fan. The CaseOh, Rangers fans, I don't know how you can get past this pain. Being on the wrong end of a sports miracle is unbearable. Just ask New Englanders. How many times can we watch David Tyree making his helmet catch? The answer: Forever. And so it was with Game 6 of the 2011 World Series, the Texas Rangers were one strike away from the title twice! But that victory was ripped from them through two miracle plays: a clutch double in the bottom of the ninth, and walk-off homer in the bottom of the eleventh. Both by the same guy. That's gotta sting. On the other hand, the Cardinals were left clutching their jocks when icon Albert Pujols bolted for greener pastures in Anaheim, so it wasn't all joyful delirium. As Opening Day 2012 looms, Major League Baseball has decided to honor the start of the new season with the full broadcast release of Game 6 on Blu-ray and DVD. There are no extras, no accompanying documentary, nothing except the game, searchable by innings, sporting the original Fox commentators, with two alternate radio broadcasts as optional audio tracks. Normally, I scoff at these complete game releases. Aside from collectors and team die-hards, who is going to sit through these? But Game 6 just might be the exception. There's scoring, high drama, and genuine tension throughout, all capped off with a Disney moment. When anyone claims baseball to be the greatest sport on the planet, this game should be used Exhibit A. A&E's Baseball's Greatest Games: 2011 World Series, Game 6 (Blu-ray) is obviously the way to go and the 1.78:1/1080p high definition transfer is flawless. The 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio track sets the aural stage nicely and erupts during the big-time moments. The VerdictNot Guilty. Hey Texas, we'll trade you Josh Beckett for an autographed pair
of Nolan Ryan's pants. Give us your feedback!Did we give Baseball's Greatest Games: 2011 World Series, Game 6 (Blu-ray) a fair trial? yes / no |
