"Dance Body Beautiful" is Judge David Johnson's alias.
Quick-working dance workouts guaranteed to tone and trim.
Dancing with the Stars "fan favorite" (their words) Lisa Rinna and her choreographer Louis van Amstel have put together 67 minutes of dance-fueled workouts that will no doubt leave you sweaty and short of breath and that is not a disgusting, chauvinistic comment about Rinna's astoundingly low-cut workout attire.
Like most fitness videos, the game plan follows the warm-up/multi-part-regimen/cool-down formula. Rinna opens up each section with a one-on-one, slowed-down explanation of the moves you, the flabby DVD owner, will be called upon to execute. After the warm-up and the intro, there will be four specific workouts that lie ahead:
"Jive, Jam and Kick"
"Hot Salsa Burn"
"Disco Dream Body"
You should immediately notice two things: 1) each workout is geared towards a specific dance technique and 2) they all sound like side dishes for Applebee's.
As is the case when I review these discs I can only attest to how the workouts would probably affect me. The thrust is definitely on cardio and calorie-burning and I have no doubt that I would be drenched in perspiration and gasping out unintelligible phrases like "I neff to throge up imebibly." In other words, I am certain you'll get your fat-torching money's worth.
Rinna is a solid workout leader, encouraging and smiling despite the fact she often times looks fearful that her breasts will spill out on the next jive, jam or kick. But that's the price you pay I suppose when you choose your outfits based on whether the Taliban would execute you for wearing them in public.
And there you have it. If you like burning off those pounds through the dancing aerobics, I don't think you can go wrong. The routines are varied and employ different paces for variety and the production values are solid.
Video: 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen. Audio: Dolby Digital 2.0 stereo. Extras: "Jive Jams for a Tight Bum" bonus workout.
