All Rise...Judge David Johnson dances like his feet are all thumbs. The ChargeMore dancing. The CaseAnother round of dancing and potential calorie-burning awaits you with Fat Burning Jam, a recent installment in the popular Dance Off the Inches brand of fitness DVDs. For those unfamiliar with the series, this flavor of weight-losing, muscle-toning aerobics leads the worker-outer in a series of dynamic dance movements. Michelle Dozois runs point for this routine. This is the part of fitness DVD reviews where I usually submit the leader's qualifications, but the best I can come up with is she smiles a lot, appears to be in good shape and speaks English. Which, I suppose, is pretty much all you need. The workout moves fast, and Dozois is complemented by a few backup dancers, including Dance Off the Inches veteran Maria Forleo, who takes turns leading the steps. The set is spacious and well-lit and the accompanying music doesn't offend; it's high-tempo, generic beats, and sufficiently propels the rhythm. Fat Burning Jam is obviously aimed toward slimming down through cardio, and doesn't focus on resistance-geared, muscle building. Fat burning is the name of the game, not bulking up or developing a six pack. But if this kind of fast-paced, energetic dancing workout appeals to you this DVD, and the Dance Off the Inches series in general, should work for you. As usual, full frame and 2.0 stereo for the technical details and a 10-minute how-to guide on the dance steps used in the actual program.
