Case Number 10406: Small Claims CourtFat Burning Kickboxing Workout For Dummies
Anchor Bay // 2006 // 56 Minutes // Not Rated Judge David Johnson prefers honing his kickboxing skills in Thailand...for money and fame! The ChargeKickboxing your way to a hernia in 40 minutes! The CaseThe "For Dummies" series coughs up a how-to kickboxing workout for your fat-torching pleasure. Leading your workout today is Keli Roberts, an impossibly ripped woman who looks like she might be able to bench-press a Kia Sportage. Roberts is an instructor and fitness educator, is certified up the butt and is no the advisory board for Fitness Magazine. It's all about kickboxing for this go-round and Roberts is a good host, though maybe a little intimidating (then again, that's probably my fragile ego and typical male insecurities talking). In all seriousness, this DVD is focused on introducing entry-level newbies to the world of kickboxing cardio and the set-up is very user-friendly. The normal elements of a "For Dummies" DVD are here, including tips on jargon and points to remember. And while Roberts does her thing, you get an occasional break-in with an advance set of moves, geared toward a more strenuous workout. The workout runs about 40 minutes and is prefaced by a 17-minute tutorial, which should prove to be very helpful imparting the different moves used throughout the feature. But to be honest, even without the tutorial, the routines didn't strike me as terribly complicated. It's just Roberts standing there throwing punches and kicks and seemed pretty easy to follow. Still, tutorials are always nice, and I'm sure the Anchor Bay legal team is happy. Here's the workout playlist: • Warm-up There are so many fitness videos out there they seem to gel together into a hazy lactic-acid generating blur, but if you're looking to get into entry-level kickboxing, this is a solid DVD to do it with.
