Walk your way to weight loss!
Denise Austin is one of the world's most recognizable fitness gurus. Apparently, many people are fans. I'm not. She is the typical, smiley ball of guru energy…and typical often translates into annoying. I see why people flock to Austin, I just tend to run the other way. Although, this time my running turned into a walk—an indoor walk.
There are three workouts included here: Easy Walk, Fat Blasting Interval Walk, and Power Walk and Tone. Each lasts about 15 minutes and are supposedly equal to a one mile walk. All are quite similar, consisting of marching, side steps, knee lifts, and the like. Denise and her background girls do some moving around, so to follow them you need a bit of space in front of your TV. Otherwise you can modify and keep walking in place. The Interval Walk includes, well, intervals of faster, higher impact movement. The Tone segment adds some light weights to shape your arms.
The best thing about this disc is the Stretch segment. Often whatever stretching is included is quick, incomplete, and basically pointless. This 10 minute bit allows all of your muscles to lengthen. It is a great end to your workout, or a quick stress reducer anytime.
Indoor Walk is an excellent disc for beginners, incorporating cardio, toning, and stretching. It will continue to be appropriate, even as your fitness level improves, since the segments can be done separately or combined for a longer, tougher workout.
