The Case

Who is the Us Band? Just the hottest group of unidentifiable animated weirdos that sing about phonics the world has ever seen! Made up of Al, Og, Meg, Izza and Gus, the Us Band knows just what your ready-to-read kiddo is craving (besides sugared cereal): catchy music about articulating phonemes!

For 32 minutes, the Us Band will regale their small audience with hits such as "Us" and "Meg Met" and "Hop, Hop, Hop" and their chart-topper, "Gus Naps." Each of the 12 songs focus on sounding-out certain flavors of letters, like the "soft e" and "soft u." The visuals are bright and colorful and match up nicely to the lively musical compositions.

LeapFrog says this program would best suit a child between three and six years old and I wager that's about right. Six might be pushing it a bit, since this is very cutesy stuff, but learning's learning and the good folks at the 'frog have this thing nailed down.

Standard issue DVD: full-frame, 2.0 stereo, and ROM-accessible printable storybooks for each song and three coloring sheets (PDFs all of them).
