The Charge

I'm lusting for something alright, but it's not vengeance. It's a lobotomy.

The Case

From director Sean Weathers and Full Circle Films comes 60 minutes worth of nonsensical movie-making. Purporting to tell the gripping story about a serial killer stalking and murdering a group of girlfriends, Lust for Vengeance breaks down into three distinct components, all of which add up to near-absolute-zero on the Home Video Entertainment Scale: 1) girls sitting around delivering lines and lines of mind-numbing exposition, 2) random, near-explicit sexual encounters and 3) the occasional vengeance-fueled-lustful murder.

Let's break it down further even though technically, there's nothing else to say, but a paragraph-long review won't cut it so here we go:

1) Girls Sitting Around Delivering Lines and Lines of Mind-Numbing Exposition

I'm so adroit a writer, this headline speaks for itself, but perhaps you need further clarification. As the girls in this movie systematically get whacked, the survivors are prompted to sit around public places and dialogue endlessly about who is responsible and why this person would want them dead and that blind date you set me up on the other night was an a-hole and, hey, isn't that one friend of ours at home probably boning her date? Sifting through this gobbledygook to reveal actual plot points is about the most intellectually engaging experience you can plan to have with Lust for Vengeance.

2) Random, Near-Explicit Sexual Encounters

If anything will move these discs, it'll be this. Without acting, writing or storytelling to fall back on, why not pack your film with gobs of sex and nudity? There's so much copulating it'd be easy to mistake this thing for a porno, especially when you couple the home-video look of it all. And I'm telling you, kids—these "actors" have taken to the method approach like few other troupers. I submit there's actual intercourse going down here. We're not talking super-hardcore here, but Sean Weathers is not reluctant to point his camera in the direction of orifices and capture enough biological tomfoolery to ensure that his film won't get past the MPAA's bouncer.

3) The Occasional-Vengeance-Fueled-Lustful Murder

Is very occasional, and subdued when it happens. But the pull isn't the gore or the violence, it's the mysterious reveal as to who this killer might be? Guess what—I guarantee you will have figured it out because there's only one male actor that isn't an anonymous sex participant! The twist is about as surprising as opening the door to your surprise party after hearing audible murmurs of "Shhh! I hear him!"

Unless you're hankering for the sporadic scrotum close-up, I'd steer clear of this disc. If you do decide to invest, you have this to look forward to: a low-grade full-frame, stereo technical treatment, cast and crew interviews, trailers and a short film.
