The Charge

Dingers!

The Case

As we gear up for the 2013 MLB post-reason run and the local professional baseball team—that would be the Red Sox—is prepping for its first playoff appearance in, I don't know, too long a time considering they have more money than God to spend on overpriced free agents. If your local professional baseball team happens to be in a similar position, here's a good way to gear up for all the drama of the Fall Classic.

MLB 25 Greatest Postseason Home Runs is pretty much exactly as advertised: there are 25 clutch home runs documented here, assembled in a series of clips and archived interview footage. The cop-out? They're not ranked by awesomeness. It's chronological, starting in 1911 and wrapping up in 2011. The reason it's a cop-out? Aside from the narrative track, I suspect this is mostly existing stuff pulled together. Also, we demand to know what is the all-time best home run! We demand lists!

In all seriousness (because this is serious business), it's fun to watch. There's a lot of great baseball history captured on the disc, and it's history from the biggest pressure-cooker situations baseball can muster.

For 60 minutes you'll get a healthy dose of heroics from the likes of Reggie Jackson, George Brett, Albert Pujols, David Ortiz, Derek Jeter, Babe Ruth, Frank Baker, Carlton Fisk, Kirk Gibson, Aaron (f-ing) Boone, and many more. Actually, 15 more to be precise.

The DVD: 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen, 2.0 stereo and 25 minutes of extended interviews with current and former players. Not bad.

The Verdict

It's a high fly ball…Not guilty!
