All Rise...Judge David Johnson learned from this disc that besides consuming flesh and drinking human blood, bedbugs also sing songs about friendship and laughter. The ChargeDo these bedbugs bite? The CaseWho are the Bedbugs? And why do they take their name from malicious little bastards that feast on flesh? We'll seek to answer these and other answers in this review of: My Bedbugs: Volume 1. Gooby, Toofy, and Woozy comprise the titular trio of Bedbugs. These pajama-clad insects with the mental progression of four-year-olds spend their days dancing around playroom and going on imaginary adventures, while watched over by a talking vacuum cleaner named J. Edgar (think about it). They also sing. Thankfully, they hold instinctual urge to drink human blood in check, and instead of devouring children, seek to entertain them.< Volume 1 offers three episodes from the My Bedbugs television series: • "Lost Sock Adventure" • "The Pirates of the Bugabean" • "Rainy Day" Apparently My Bedbugs is popular with the kids. I had never heard of it, but my research (I scanned their website) has revealed that the series bagged a load of Emmys and is broadcast throughout the country. The Bedbugs also put on live shows. While this modest collection should keep your toddler transfixed, nothing really leaps out to distinguish the series from the legion of others like it. It's got jocular creatures frolicking in their imagination and learning valuable life lessons along the way. The bedbug thing is a little creepy, and I suspect the only reason the talking vacuum cleaner is a character is for the bad pun. A few of the voices are as grating as an old screen door in desperate need of a WD-40 bath, but for what it is, My Bedbugs is no more irritating than any others of its ilk. And it's a 1,000 times better than that @#$%&$#@%# Dora. Beyond the three episodes (which total about 60 minutes), you'll get a sampling of the My Bedbugs live show, some karaoke songs and a slideshow.
