The Case

Hot on the heels of their dopey Halloween special, the Power Rangers return with a collection of three holiday-themed episodes from three different iterations of the series:

Power Rangers Samurai—"Christmas Together, Friends Forever"
Hey look, it's a clip show! Just like that clip show from the Halloween special! To celebrate the holidays, the Samurai Rangers reminisce on their favorite battles and when they were first introduced to each other. Nothing says "Merry Christmas!" to your diminutive Power Ranger fan like a half-assed episode of recycled footage!

Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers—"I'm Dreaming of a White Ranger"
The evil Lord Zedd has hatched a particularly diabolical plot: usurp Santa Claus and force his elves to create evil toys. The Rangers spring into action, dropping in on the North Pole and throwing snowballs at the evil monsters. Christmas is saved!

Power Rangers Zeo—"A Season to Remember"
This is my favorite. In perhaps the greatest example of political correctness this side of Captain Planet and the Planeteers, the Power Rangers are besieged by an evil spell that makes them disparage other cultures' holiday celebrations, leading to this legendary exchange…

JEWISH TEENAGER: "What was I talking about? Oh yeah, so the Menorah represents—"

TOMMY THE RED POWER RANGER: "You know that's very interesting, but what's really important here is the Christmas tree. So why don't you go out there and chop one down and bring it back to me?"

That's all for this set, three cornball episodes featuring a startlingly small amount of robot-on-monster violence. A clip show, elf slave labor, and political correctness run amok are bad enough, but a lack of laser-crapping Zords? Unacceptable.

The DVD itself: standard def 1.33:1 full frame, Dolby 2.0 stereo, and three short bonus videos (Mega Bloks "Toymation," "Train Like a Ranger," and a Power Rangers Swarm promo).
