All Rise...

Judge David Johnson evolved into a bird.

The Charge

The truth about killer dinosaurs.

The Case

All will finally be revealed!

From the BBC comes Predator Dinosaurs, two hours worth of dino action, presented by a guy named Bill Oddie who may have supplemented his natural excitement about prehistoric reptiles with some sort of inhalant. Lucky for you, fellow T-Rex enthusiast, Oddie has at his disposal a moderate budget to transmit his dinosaur-mania. Two programs on one disc for your enjoyment:

T-Rex vs. Triceratops
Who would win a fight? No, this isn't a discussion topic dwelled over by a pair of bored middle-schoolers at lunch. This is the actual focus of the feature and I'm more than happy with that strategy. To dissect this face-off, we get CGI reconstructions, PowerPoint slides, amped-up narration and even some bio-mechanical engineering misadventures. The verdict: according to Oddie, "Who knows?" Thanks!

The fan favorites get the spotlight this go-round and Oddie uses his bag of tricks to analyze the big screen's iconic Samuel L. Jackson devourer. More CGI, more visual effects, lots of speculation over whether the Raptors were covered in feathers and if they may have evolved into birds and some more mechanical engineering to replicate the patented Raptor disemboweling strike.

The DVD: 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen, Dolby 2.0 stereo, no extras.

Predator Dinosaurs is a cool DVD for dino fans, with lots of info and some interesting tricks/gimmicks giving new life to the knowledge. Plus, Oddie is the man!

The Verdict

Not Guilty. Rawr.
