All Rise...

Hey! Are you a fifth-grade student from California struggling in science but would like to improve if only there was a way to learn from some guy rapping about the solar system? Judge David Johnson might have what you're looking for.

The Charge

Science ROCKS!!!

The Case

Dear Ty:

Hey, what's up? Misty told me she had seen you in the mall on Saturday night. That's pretty cool. What were you doing? Hanging out with Brad and Brett and Brettbrad? Yeah, those guys are pretty cool. Brad used to like Misty but she liked Brad instead. Oh well!

I hear you went to Zack's birthday party on Friday. I couldn't go cuz I was grounded by my mom and her trans-gendered life partner, Raspberry. Parents can be soooooooooo uncool sometimes, ya know? Well, I'm not grounded anymore, so that's pretty cool. Actually I think Raspberry might give me a ride to Ginko's Steak and Cheese Cholesterol Hut tonight. Maybe I'll see you there? That would be pretty cool.

How's English class going? I heard Mr. Rocknut yelled at you guys the other day. What did you do?! :) I bet you and Stevebrad Zackington were throwing paper footballs at Irving Von Homeworkdoer again. You guys are soooooooooooooooooooooooo mean!!! :) But that guy totally deserves it, always handing in his homework like that. Whatever!

Oh, that reminds me! I have to tell you about Mr. Stringfellow's science class today. Instead of the quiz I thought we were going to take (four minutes of studying for no reason!) he showed us some music videos! Yeah, I swear it!

But these weren't Hillary Duff or Jessica Simpson or Credence Clearwater Revival videos. I wish! These were Rock On: Educational Videos—5th Grade Science!!! Crazy, huh?

You probably heard about this from your friend Zack Brettson ( he is your friend still, right? I heard that you two got into a fight during recess when he puked on your Pumas). Zack sits next to me in Mr. Stringfellow's class. Which is pretty cool.

Anyway, so instead of a quiz, Mr. Stringfellow throws in this DVD and suddenly we're watching music videos about the solar system and photosynthesis. I'm trying to remember the titles of the music videos. I think they were "Solar Trip," "It's Our Weather," "Water Cycle," "It's Matter That Matters," "Photosynthesis," "Anatomy Blues," and "Life Science."

Each video had a different kind of music to go along with the different science subjects. Like, "Solar Trip" was a rap song. It wasn't as awesome as Eminem, but I learned about the planets! That was pretty cool. Each video shows diagrams and animation about the subject of the song. The animation, computer-generated I think, is pretty crappy, but I got the point. The diagrams were helpful and the lyrics were easy to understand.

I know I'll sound like a major dork, but I didn't mind these music videos. The music was really cheesy, and that "Life Science" video was made for fourth-graders, but the tunes were kind of catchy. And I guess it's compliant with California curriculum, so mom and Raspberry should be happy. Now I can cut my studying time down in half! Pretty cool, huh?

Anyway, that's what I wanted to tell you about. If you get a chance to see these videos, you should. It helped me remember some of the things Mr. Stringfellow talks about, even though the songs are corny.

So, maybe I'll see you at Steve-Zack Brettbradzacksteveman's skateboard party? That would be sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo cool!!! :)

From,
Tammy, your friend 4-eva!
