All Rise...

Judge David Johnson would have gotten away with this review, if it weren't for you meddling kids.

Editor's Note

The Charge

"Boy, this mystery is getting more mysterious by the minute!"—Fred

The Case

Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! Volume 4 contains four episodes of the classic Scooby Doo series, thrown together with no apparent theme other than "cha-ching!"

• "Which Witch is Which"
Hence the Spooked Bayou subtitle for the set; the gang gets stuck in a swamp and come face to face with a pair of apparent witches.

• "Go Away Ghost Ship"
Nice, an appearance by a ghost pirate!

• "Spooky Space Kook"
The Mystery Machine runs out of gas at an abandoned airfield and our heroes are immediately pursued by an alien robot thing.

• "A Night of Fright is No Delight"
Don't let the cute title fool you: this is a terrifying descent into madness as the gang spends a night in a haunted mansion and encounter…wait for it…a ghost!

I've got nothing to add to the awesome mythos of Scooby-Doo. What else can you say about a group of hippie teens who never change their clothes driving around in the dead of night in a van that should be under surveillance by the DEA and constantly encounter deranged wackos who employ the same modus operandi for all their idiot schemes, underscored by a painful and embarrassing laugh track?

Full frame, 2.0 stereo, and a bonus episode from Shaggy & Scooby-Doo Get a Clue!

The Verdict

Not guilty, I guess.
