As this court has found in previous rulings, Ms. Jillian Michaels is the current reigning fitness DVD queen. But is she able to successfully defend that crown with Shred-It With Weights, or is Denise Austin once again breathing down her neck?
If you a workout beginner, skip this disc and check out some of Jillian's other DVDs. But please finishing reading the review; leaving in the middle is just rude!
Shred-It is strictly high intensity. If you already possess the muscle moves and a moderate amount of balance, Jillian can help you up your game. We have two workout levels to choose from; each runs about half an hour and is built around the use of a kettlebell (a rounded weight with a handle), but you can use a single heavier dumbbell too. You'll feel the burn either way, and both are demonstrated throughout. Trust me, Jillian's moves will make you…well, move. No static positions here. We've got lots of swinging and jerking, working your whole body and especially your core. If you've never experienced this type of workout before, don't get discouraged; it may take a bit to get into the swing of things. Each workout ends with a short, but adequate, cool down stretch. Just take care not to overdo it, or you will have one heck of an aching back the next morning.
Interesting side note: Some quick online research shows that certain kettlebell trainers object to Jillian's form. If this is really your thing, you might want to dig a little deeper before diving in.
On the charge of "high intensity," this court finds Shred-It
With Weights guilty.
