All Rise...Judge David Johnson sang along with Barbie...until the cops arrived. The ChargeSing, dance, and dream with Barbie. The CaseIf you thought Barbie was just a one-dimensional pretty face with an anatomically impossible body that's perfect for putting cheap clothes on, think again. Barbie is a singer! She has a song in her heart that's just ready to escape, and if you've got a little lady who's sick of belting out tunes on Rock Band or Guitar Hero, here's an alternative. Sing Along with Barbie is basically a karaoke DVD, featuring 12 songs that have appeared in past Barbie animated movies. After a brief title card introduction and a few words from Barbie herself, it's off to the singing. Clips are lifted straight from the movie with sing-along lyrics pasted on. As the songs progress in typical karaoke fashion, the words are shaded over to coincide with the rhythm. Simple, straight-to-the-point, and just what you need to have the kids screaming your ears off. Of course, if you're hoping for new material or substantial bang for your buck, you might be disappointed. But if you're after 37 minutes of cutesy girl songs blasted out by an iconic doll rendered in decent animation, here you go. The best part of the release is its ease to start up. The instructions are spelled out slowly and easily (just in case there any first-time DVD users out there, like small children…or apes) with options to play the entire series of music videos or select them individually from a slick rotating carousel. The video aspect is well-performing, with a clean 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer. Audio isn't as impressive, with its 2.0 stereo mix. Odd choice, considering the focus is on the music. There are no extras. The VerdictNot Guilty. Sure, why not. Give us your feedback!Did we give Sing Along With Barbie a fair trial? yes / no Other Reviews You Might Enjoy
