Appellate Judge Daryl Loomis
• Location: Denton, TX
Born on the mean streets of Western Oregon, Daryl Loomis grew strong on a steady diet of baked pork chops and USA Up All Night. In fear of how he would end up if he continued on this path, Daryl ran away to the Land of Enchantment: Santa Fe, NM. While there, he only learned two things: staring at crystals is no way to attain enlightenment, and a Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Arts is a total sham. Disappointed with academics, he found work entering data for a long-standing classical music reference guide, and its subsequent attempts at a second rate film guide, until the vicious jaws of corporate acquisition snuffed its life short. Throughout all this, he retained his love for horror films and '70s stewardess comedies, and discovered the simple pleasures of reviewing films, especially those he hated most.
Now a resident of the Lone Star State, he watches with amusement a state's delusions of grandeur while selling salon chairs to Canadians and trying to figure out how to write fiction that someone will buy.
